Dédou and Madou on their wedding day

Dédou & Madou

In the heart of Florensac, on Boulevard Victor Hugo, there is a house that the whole neighbourhood knows. Not for its facade, which looks like every other house on the street, but for what lay behind the door. A family life that was vibrant, generous, full of warmth.

He was known as Dédou. She was Madou. Nicknames, the kind people give here with tenderness, that end up replacing real names. Their house was the sort of place where you'd pop in 'just for five minutes' and stay for dinner. Where your glass was refilled without you having to ask.

« Se sias pas d'aquí, t'i metràs vite. » — If you're not from here, you'll settle in quickly.

Several generations grew up within these walls. The children learned to walk on the terracotta tiles in the living room, the grandchildren played in the courtyard. The stairwell still echoes with the laughter of children, rushing home after school. This house is more than a building: it is a family album.

One of Madou's favourite songs, which she often sang

Dédou's song, which he'd belt out at the top of his voice, often out of tune

Your host

Florence

Florence is the daughter of Dédou and Madou. She grew up here, in this house, in this village.

When she decided to open the B&B, it felt natural. This house has always welcomed people. Florence simply carried on doing what her parents had always done: opening the door, setting the table, and making everyone feel expected.

She'll tell you about the market, recommend her favourite beach (the one the tourists don't know about), and insist that you try her apricot jam (and you'll have seconds).

« Romegues pas et passa davant. » — Don't complain and keep going. As Dédou used to say.

Florence speaks French, English and Spanish.

The residence

The House

A period house, built in the heart of the village. In the stairwell, beneath the Occitan cross, you'll pass a few black-and-white photographs that echo the gentle wear of the entrance flagstones.

The house has been carefully renovated, respecting its history. The terracotta tiles have been preserved, the fireplaces restored, the mouldings maintained. Modern comforts (air conditioning, walk-in showers, new bedding) have slipped between the old walls without disturbing anything.
